* Farewell Old Friend *

As I sit here on this cold and barren land,
The ashes of our past still clinging tight,
My mind wanders back to when it all began,
To the time before we lost sight.

We were brothers once, united by strife,
But now we stand divided, each side bleeding red,
Our hearts hardened by hate and endless lies,
As we march towards oblivion, heads held high instead.

The thunderous roar of bombs shakes the ground,
And tears stream down from mother earth's face,
Her children scattered far and wide,
Searching desperately for some semblance of grace.

Forests burned to ash, cities crumbled beneath,
The sky painted black with soot and fear,
No birds sing their songs anymore, no flowers bloom,
Only silence reigns supreme, a mournful dirge drawing near.

Oh, what have we done? What horrors remain,
In the wake of madness and mankind's folly?
Can we find redemption amidst the pain,
